In The Nightmare (2007), Ghenie imagines himself visited by Adolf Hitler, who watches over the sleeping artist, accompanied by two giant Alsatians dogs sitting in front of a group of paintings stacked against the wall. Set within a darkened room resembling an attic, the work's dark colors heighten an ominous sense of danger.
