The German artist Tim Trantenroth looks at urban spaces for his motifs. In the series “War on Terror” (2005), Trantenroth painted scenes of destruction on varied foundations (canvas both stretched and unstretched, as well as paper), each devoid of people and focused on destruction and detritus of the surroundings. In Car Bomb (2005), the back of a white hatchback is shown with doors open and windows blown out, tightly cropped below the horizon.
