Season Finale: View the window by Markus Lüpertz without a guided tour
Kunstmuseum Schloss Derneburg is pleased to announce the installation of a permanent nearly four-meter-tall stained-glass window by acclaimed artist Markus Lüpertz in the Schloss’ main entrance hall. Lüpertz’s design honors the artistic legacy of Schloss Derneburg as the former home and studio of Lüpertz’s friend Georg Baselitz, while embracing the building’s historic legacy as a former monastery. Representing Lüpertz’s first museum commission in glass, this unique, site-specific installation also pays homage to the landscape and historic monuments found within Gemeinde Holle.
The artwork can be viewed regularly as part of a guided tour of the castle.
One-Time Viewing Opportunity
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, the last day of this year’s open season, visitors will have the opportunity to view Markus Lüpertz’s window without a guided tour.
The exhibition Hard Edge(d), also installed in the historic entrance hall and the Rittersaal of Kunstmuseum Schloss Derneburg, will be accessible without a guided tour on this day as well.
Please note that both areas are not wheelchair-accessible.
