    Jonathan Meese, Napoleon, 2006
Jonathan Meese's (b. 1970) multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, drawing, sculpture, performance, writing, stage design, and directing within the fields of theater and opera. Using a lexicon of personal hieroglyphs mixed with historical, political and cultural references, Meese explores such themes as revolution, the failures of ideology, and the role and power of art.

Albert Oehlen / Jonathan Meese, Portrait I, 2002-2003

Albert Oehlen (b. 1954) is known for creating work that tests the boundaries of figuration and abstraction, challenging expectations of conventional abstract art in works he deems as "post-non-figurative." Focusing on the process of painting, Oehlen's work is marked by self-imposed constraints, such as using only certain colors, working at a set pace, integrating certain elements of collage, employing computer-generated lines, or working collaboratively with other scholars, writers, musicians, and artists (such as Jonathan Meese).

    Daniel Richter, Revidyll, 2006

Daniel Richter (b. 1962) is known for expressive, large-scale paintings that incorporate historical, political and contemporary references to the mass media. A blend of abstraction and figuration, his intensely colorful paintings are pictorial scenes of unstable realities.
