Monahan's sculptures challenge a classical representation of the human body. Here, the figure is fragmented, composed of various sections of metal joined together with seams and fasteners deliberately left visible. While the figure conveys an imposing presence from the front, a view from side and back reveals a bisected, thin and hollowed form.
