Humor and superficiality. Mockery, ambiguity, and Jesus as the target: Oh My God! Pop Art has remained in the spotlight for sixty years. One perspective that has remained underexposed is the art movement's connection to religion. It is precisely in this area that Pop Art is at its best. The work of Pop Art artists like Andy Warhol, Niki de Saint Phalle, Jeff Koons, Jacques Frenken, and Wim Delvoye evokes a smile, but also commotion and revulsion: the clash of devotion versus irony and commercialism provides stimulating perspectives in the exhibition OMG! RELI POP ART. When it comes to religion, Pop Art has not lost its controversial character.
