Robert Overby: Works 1969 - 1987 : Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva, Switzerland

The Centre for Contemporary Art in Geneva presents Works 1969-1987 , the first retrospective exhibition of Robert Overby's work in Europe. Curated by Alessandro Rabottini, the exhibition is organized in collaboration with the GAMeC Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Bergamo, Italy (where it will travel in May 2014), the Bergen Kunsthall in Norway (where it will be shown in September 2014), and the Consortium in Dijon.

Despite a prolific and diverse body of work, Robert Overby remains one of the best-kept secrets of postwar American art, as his work was rarely exhibited during his lifetime. His varied artistic output—including sculptures, installations, paintings, and collages—explores notions of representation, space, and identity, and examines the human condition, its decline, its beauty, and its absurdity.
