Eugene Leroy - Exposition du Centenaire: Musée des Beaux-Arts Eugene Leroy | Tourcoing, France
The Museum of Fine Arts in Tourcoing celebrates the 100th anniversary of Eugène Leroy with the presentation of nearly 150 masterpieces from major international public and private collections. Thanks to the exceptional Eugène Jean and Jean-Jacques Leroy donation, the Eugène Leroy Museum of Fine Arts in Tourcoing testifies to the importance of painting today, through the work and personality of Eugène Leroy. Today, the MUba is the definitive institution dedicated to the painter.
The exhibition will not be a retrospective in the chronological sense of the works. Rather, it aims to showcase the richness of Eugène Leroy's oeuvre, encompassing all periods, themes, and formats. All these elements are fundamental aspects of the development of his pictorial work, his aesthetics, and his ethics. The exhibition explores both the giant and the human being, solidity and fragility, materiality and transcendence, light and shadow, precision and the undefined, stubbornness and doubt, the knowledge of tradition and the power of invention, the laborious and the sublime.
